Question Proper way to fix rock chip w/ a little rust?

I have a rock chip on the "C" pillar, and the metal underneath has rusted a little bit.

I'm wondering if I need to do anything special to fix the chip, or if I can just put on some touch-up paint, and Langka it, and I'm good. Or will the cancer eventually spread?

It's not much surface rust, but I'd like to only have to fix it once.

Thanks in advance for your help!

It's raining here so I can't really get a pic, but it's pretty small. I was just wondering if I had to try and dab some primer in the chip before I used touch-up.

theres a "fiberglass" pen that you can buy at an autoparts/paint shop that you use to sand away the rust, touch up primer, then touch up paint, sand with 1000grit, hash polish paste, then fine polish, then wax....lots of work for a tiny chip huh. :P

Imagine trying to do that for EVERY single chip there is on an evo's front bumper/hood.... :O

If you don't wanna use the "pen" thing you can use a small grinder bit with your dremmel. Take it down to the metal to make sure the rust is out. Then pill it back in using the process described above. That is the only way to keep the rust out.

I think the "fiberglass" pen, touch up primer and touch up paint will work. I'm really just concerned about the rust spreading, I'd like to nip it in the bud, but I'm not looking for any sort of "Concours de Elegance" type finish, I have so many freaking rock chips, only the ones on steel are getting addressed, the ones on aluminum have a permanent home.

Thanks for all the help!
