yeah the hood is rusting... its by the front.. where it meets the bumper... right above the turn blinker.... its small but noticeable... ummm yeah i dont know you might want to go see ur dealer but i doubt anything good will happen there.. after that you should go to a local paint shop and see what they can do..

Okay listen up
I’m also located in Toronto, and my hood too has a rust spot.
I went to the dealer, they said it’s a stone chip and not their problem so our 7 year corrosion warranty will not cover it (get this, they said the corrosion warranty only covers rust that goes threw the car…who the hell is going to wait that long to get a rust spot fixed on a new car!)
I argued because it started to bubble, but nothing was fixed for me.
Anyways, at a recent meet, I was looking at another member’s car (whitelancerGTS) and I noticed he had a rust spot exactly like mine…so now I’m thinking – three 08 lancers…all with hood rust in pretty much the same area, there must be more, right?
I think we should all get together, go to one dealership, and argue this until they fix it under warranty.
What do we have to lose?

Go to Wal-mart or any automotive store and get a fine sanding fiberglass pen. It looks like a pen, but with fiberglass bristles on the tip. This will surely take off the rust, then all you have to do is use touch up paint.

oh i know it’s an easy fix at this stage…but the fact that mitsubishi offers these massive warranties but has so many loopholes in them is bs…i’d rather them fix these issues and actually honor some of what they say is covered.
i feel like every issue i have with my car, they try and make it like it's completely my fault…

I also have a rust spot due to a stone chip on the front of my roof. Dealer said he wouldn't cover it since the rusting had to come from underneath the paint and bubble. The paint also has many contaminations that need to be taken care of with a clay bar. I took it to the dealer once but they did a horrible job.

yes... i think mitsu wont cover that rust spot cuz it is stone chip.. however... i seems that i keep getting stone chips on the passenger side of the hood... i could be come paint defect...

if we couldnt get 10+ ppl in dealer... we can hardly fight for anything....

so u guys suggest me to fix it myself using the sand pen?

thx u guys for the input

I would forget about getting rust from paint chips fixed under warranty. I would just get it fixed and have a clear bra applied to the car.

I went a head and had a clear bra applied to my car this weekend. Fortunately, I hadn't picked up any stone chips before I got the bra put on.

Those are horrible for your car's paint. All they do is trap dirt/salt/moisture between the bra and car. Might even cause more rusting.

You're better off getting the 3M clear bra. I got my dealer to throw that in when I bought my car.
