I'm thinking it might be due to the brake dust but when I brought it to my dealer today for their opinion, they said it's not likely due to brake dust cause brake dust is much finer and wouldn't be able to get trapped in the paint like that...not all over the car anyways. It's a fairly common problem but usually not noticed unless the car's white.

Here's some info on it Rail dust

Basically clean it up with a clay bar before it gets worse and actually starts to eat away at your paint. Unfortunately rail dust won't be covered under warranty.

Hope this helps!

Yeah there's no rust on the bumper itself, I just had a paint bubble on the top of the rear bumper, and of course as soon as I go to wash it, it came off and instead of a paint bubble, I have a black patch where it's right down to the plastic of the bumper. I'm afraid to wash it again because I know that it's just gonna grow everytime I do ... I'm going to go take a picture of the trunk lid as soon as I find my camera to show you want I mean. I can't honestly see how Mitsubishi can stand behind this car and say it's good, when after 8 months of ownership, and busting *** to keep it in a good condition as it's the first new car I've ever owned, this car is already in worse condition than a 1991 Dodge Caravan I won... and 91 Caravans are known for their poor paint jobs ...

There's poor paint jobs, and there's the "one coat and sell it" job that pretty much all car makers are doing these days. 1991 was a MUCH different time.

Blame all you want, but every new car owner I talk to has the same complaint. Doesn't matter what company. US, Japanese, etc.

So essentially, Mistubishi probably won't be too overly concerned and likely won't be doing much to fix this? ... I suppose if all car manufacturers do this, there's not much that can be done about it, kinda like when gas goes up without any justification from the big oil companies.
