Carbon Fiber Trunk
Carbon Fiber Trunk
I just put on my Seibon CF trunk and the trunk spring is very powerful and wiping up the trunk. I am scared that it might damage it. What have you guys been doing about that? Thanks Tony
dont think there is much you could do. either you take out the tension rods or leave it.
there are 2 types of tension rods that come on the evo tho. theres a separate one for the RS and a stronger one for the gsr/mr due to the wing. you could try and source an RS one from a dealer.
if anything, the wing weighs it down a lot so it doesnt just snap open. what i used to do is just have someone wait and catch the trunk.

I'm unsure haven't checked yet but in my STi I had a pair of tension bars. The trick was just remove one and you'd be fine. I can't confirm it is the same for evos though. They would be located towards the top back of the trunk.

what you need to do is buy these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-...1226QQtcZphoto and install them on your trunk. it has been done before and works great. they have to differnt designs.

The tension rods are located in the trunk and under the speaker section of the trunk. There will be two black rods going across each other.
Can someone post a DIY on how to take one tension rod off?
