if you do end up going w/ a cf hood, get it cleared w/ a few good coats of clear so it doesnt fade, chip, crack, etc...if you take care of the hood and maintain it properly (wax it when you wash it) then you wont ever have problems w/ it

Quote: The main reason I am considering the Seibon or VIS is because I want the hood to be exactly like OEM. Most of the others I saw (Monster, Kaminari, Varis, etc.) had extra vents or scoops or were not exactly styled like OEM. If there is another brand that is just like OEM I'll consider it (chargespeed? ..... the only pics I could find were very small).

Good input though. Thanks all.

4 coats of DUPONT UV clear gel coat on every hood, made in the USA. The price is because it's factory direct... other places ell the same hood for 2 and 3x's as much. And yes, with a little modding the factory grill can be used This guy did it.

I checked out your webite a few weeks ago. The hoods look pretty nice. Is is possible to swap everything over without too much hassle (wiper nozzles, grill, mesh, heat shielding, etc.)? Also, what is the weight comparison of your hoods to the factory weight? (I know I said earlier weight wasn't a huge concern but I am just currious).

I have a 3000GT, not an evo,s o i havent tried to move it over, but it doesnt seem like it would be that hard to frigure out how to screw them in.

My guess is our hood wieghts about 18-20 pounds.

Thanks for the info. Also, I forgot to ask earlier, are the hoods pins in the picture necessary or just for show? I don't want to use hood pins.

Thanks!

The aluminum hood is lighter that some carbon hoods. The Seibon and VIS are the heaviest.

Gialla, C West, Monster etc. are all lighter than the stock hood, by about 10lbs or so.

The lightest carbon hood I know of is the one Robispec sells. It also happens to look exactly like stock, no scoops or gills either. Check it out.

The hood pins are not necessary, it comes with a stock placement hood latch. That said, hood pins do add security for those that like "spirited" driving

Those are the best latches in the world, the most aerodynamic too. They use them on aircraft and F1 cars We are the biggest distributor in the United States for aerocatch.

Hope that answers your question.

The Robispec hood looks really nice. Any idea who makes it and it's cost? I couldn't really find anything on the website about cost.

I got my c/f hood because it was cheaper to get a c/f hood than repaint my stocker.

Plus c/f on black = sex.

Ehh.. I dont remember who makes it. I know it's been mentioned on this forum, so if you search you could probly find it.

It's not that expensive, I dont remember how much it is, but it's cheaper than the JDM equivalent.

E-mail Robi, he's usually good about answering this e-mails.

You could PM Nils, he has the hood and trunk on this car, he may have some more info for you.

You will need hood pins with it though, it's pretty thin.
