Have mine being fixed today. Was real easy, all I did was go into the showroom and show on their two new Evos the same chips. New cars are even coming with them.

The problem is the door sits too far in. I was pulled out and no more chips but I have touch up paint in that section. I want them to repaint that spot.

BTW now the door is pulled out the top part of the door is sticking out too far. Oh well, I guess it is better than having rock chips.

No chips on my car. 2100 miles. Silver car.

Could this issue be limited to a certain run of cars? My car was made in Feb 03, and everything looks fine. I would have noticed if I had paint chips by now.

After reading this thread I am going to put a nice coat of wax on that area. Might help alittle in the future.....

I got mine fixed this week, but they made no adjustments in the door. They said the car DOES have a clearcoat, though not a great one. I would say I will get somemore unless I find a way to fix it.

For anyone that would like to stop this issue from happening again or at all. I would like to offer you 3M ScotchCal material in bulk. It is a very cheap and easy fix. This way you dont have to repaint or go through the hassle of the dealership world.

The only way to prevent it from happening again is to adjust the door. I haven't had any chips since then.

3M tape is just a Band-Aid not a permanent fix.

What exactly are you offering and what's the price? I'm very interested.

Thanks,
Rich

I have helped many Evo people that are all having the same problem. Yes you can adjust the door, but that area could still see some damage from people getting inside via the back door. What you need is a piece 2 inches by 12 inches for each side. You cna check it out HERE

cheap fix for 2 dollars....

go to autozone or pepboys and look for the rubber lining that slides on the door edge. it sticks out just far enough to block from rocks chipping that location. mine are black and for me since i have a black evo you don't even really be able to tell. they come in multiple colors
