I have noticed this with a lot of red cars. my jeep faded so bad even though I waxed religiously. I would call some body shops and ask what they would recommend.

Try this It's a very extensive walk through, and should eliminate any swirling or spider webs.

I am not sure if the Ralley Red is similar paint to the Phoenix Red. The Phoenix Red I believe has the paint and clear mixed together which is why paint sometimes comes off. Some guy on here said the reds used for Mitsubishi were only single stage paint.

you can re-clear the car..it will be a very painful process though.i sanded down my RR myself before paint job.but i started at a low grit and didnt care about cutting through the paint etc.

i say call a paint shop in your area or ask ultimate-cc or ultimatecc(not sure if it has the dashes)he has his own body/paint shop and is very good.

id say start with a high grit like a 1500-2000 and do a very light sand on it,then you could possibly shoot dupont 7900 over it..but i would ask/pm/call shops.

ive never recleared a car,but taking the clear off is easy, but if you care about the red paint it may not be so easy.

You can't re-clear because there is no clear to start with.

right, i worded it wrong. i know its single stage paint, but if u clean this paint up, wet sand it etc, has anyone then just had a few coats of clear sprayed over the prepped single stage red paint.

I got this straight from mitsu. They said they don't clear the red because it would make it fade faster. I don't claim to know alot about paint, but that sounds a little strange to me.

a friend of mine has the exact same problem on his hands right now, and he really took care of it. He washes/waxes it so much we tease him that he's washing the paint off it. I think he's considering having a cheap/local paint shop repaint it.

They clear coat all the other evo colors.

they do clear the red,why wouldnt they...my car use to be RR and trust me it has clear..i know cus i sanded it off!now if you look at RR before clear and after clear its a huge difference..

all evos have clear i dont care what anyone says...when you sand a clear down you will get a white residue...and thats all i saw when i sanded my car down...

if you have no clear left(which is odd)..then id suggest getting the OEM paint from mitsubishi and re-shooting it then re clear..b/c when you sand your probably gonna take the paint down a little bit..
