Thumbs up Toothpaste on headlights!

Guys I learnt something today and I don't know if it's general knowledge so I decided to share.

I have a DD that is 10 years old and the headlights where getting this yellow haze over them I guess from UV rays reacting with the plastic. You see them all the time, cars with dull yellowish looking headlights.

So, someone suggested using toothpaste to help clear it up. Of course I was skeptical at first but wouldn't you know it, the darn thing worked.

I simply took some toothpaste and a toothbrush, rubbed it on the headlight, cleaned it off and VOILA, clearer lenses. Just to make certain I wasn't imagining this, I compared it to the other lens and sure enough it was clearer, not factory clear but much improved nonetheless.

So I now have clearer lens and a car that's minty fresh!

I've heard of this trick. Don't forget that toothpaste is merely a non-toxic flavored abrasive paste, essentially a fine-cut polish. I'd rather use plastic polish, though, 3M makes a nice one.

Wet sanding with a very fine grit is also effective. Don't know why this is in OT though. I'm going to put it into Show and Shine.

No special technique used but I will say this, my haze seemed to have been on the outside of the lens. Of course I discovered this after the fact so I'm wondering the reason it didn't work for youis because your haze is on the inside.

Use a car Buffer, and some light cut compound and if the light cut doesnt work us heavier cut. I detail cars and that works the best for me! Try it out.
