California Duster

I bought one today because I had my car parked in the garage for a few days and theres a nice coat of dust on it. I went and washed it today, and was thinking of using this duster to get the dust off. What you guys think? Will it scratch my paint? Also, how do I clean the duster?

I live off three dirt roads and my driveway is a mud ball, I use the CA Duster everyday on my EVO. I would first suggest reading the instructions that came with it. If you can't find them, let me know and I'll type them up. If I remember correctly, you need to let it sit on newspaper for over 24 hours, the duster is covered in wax and this get's off most of the excess wax, move it occasionally when it's sitting on the newspaper, you will notice the wetness of the paper, so switch it out when you move the duster. This doesn't remove all of the excess wax, so the first few times you use it, you will get wax on your car, windows, etc. Don't worry, it washes right off. When using it remember it's a duster, use light strokes, it's not a brush, so don't use force. I find it's very effective and helps me from having to wash my car every freaking day, it removes more than just dust, but it won't clean your car. The instructions also state, don't use it on the car when it is hot, you will melt the wax, Also if you store it in the trunk and it's hot out it will melt the wax, it's not a big deal but then you've got to wash your car to remove the wax. You also need to remember to shake it out before and after. The only way it would scratch your car is if you picked up a rock/pebble, etc. and it was caught in the duster. They say the duster works better the more dirty it gets and is not meant to be washed. Just remember to shake it out before and after using. You can wash it in the washing machine if you must, that's why the mop/duster pop is removable, but remember this thing has wax on it, which is in essence what pics up the dust, so if you wash it in hot water, say goodbye to the wax, I wouldn't put in the dryer for the same reason.

Yeah, I have swirl marks on my car, but that comes from hand washing it, nothing a good wax won't take care of. I never used the duster on my prior car and it had the same swirl marks.

I'm gonna pick up the mini one for the interior. Man it sucks living off dirt roads, I've gotta get rally graphics put on so I never have to wash it again.

Wow lots of info, thanks man! I'll grab the duster in a couple of hours when I walk my dog to see if it came with instructions, but I think you explained it all.

I have been using the California Car Duster since the mid 90s. It works great!

Hint: Do NOT attempt to dust off your wheels/tires or you will get Armor All, and/or Tire Gel, and/or Brake Dust all over the California Car Duster. It is very difficult to clean your car with Armor All/Gell/Brake Dust all over your brush.
