This may sound like a stupid question to some, but I would still like to get closure on this issue. How comes most of the evos come factory with the guages on the bottom and the radio up top? My guages are on top with the radio on the bottom. What determiones which evo gets the different guage placement???

the three gauge panel is a factory option and part of the MR package (which the OP has)
im not sure who decides if it goes on top or bottom...

Yes I believe the MRs comes with the gauges on the top. I don't think it matters anyways, just a question of personal preference and what you got going on in that area.

 

all 2005 evos came with gauges on the bottom
i just assumed all new did
unless you bought it used from someone who moved them up - guages are installed on the bottom

 

i have worked on 03-06, unless someone bought that conversion kit its not a factory option. the gauges are, but not the relocation kit.

i know the MR;s come with the gauges automatically unless you ask for it and order your evo. and if im not mistaken the gauges come on the bottom. now some people get the relocate kit,............did you buy yours used?????

 

all MR and i think RS evos come with the factory gauge kit. (sport metering kit )

i wanna say the RS has the one on top since there isnt any radio and the MR has the gauges on bottom.............

 

All the Evos I have seen with the gauge package came with the gauges on the bottom from the factory (even with my 8 had them as an option). You can switch the location with the radio. Previous owner might have done that.

 

u dont need a relocation kit if your car came with a gauge option. just crack open the dash and switch. i am sure someone did this before u bought your evo. i have never seen a stock evo with the gauges on top, unless it was an RS

 

Fairly new when purchased, had 5,500 miles. Dosent look like it was relocated. Car was bone stock. I dont know why someone would do just the guage relocation and nothing else. (though people have done crazier things...) Oh well, just wondering. Just means I didnt have to relocate them myself. I like the guages on top anyway, where you can see them. I dont need to see the radio at a moments notice while driving. If they do come factory on the bottom, just means bad design on mitsu's part..

 

The person that had it probably swapped it. Its a very easy procedure and you dont need a relocate kit. They come on the bottom but I put them up top too cause of the reasons you listed =D
