On the other hand, if you roll your fenders, you will notice a slight bulge near the bumper mounts that are located on the fender. I admit i am a perfectionist and i can notice every conspicuous detail on my car. So after giving it some thought, here's what my conscious mind came up with. If i decided to trim the fender lip, i would trim it and reinforce the fender with two, maybe three layers of composite fiber (kevlar/carbon weave or carbon weave or structural fiberglass) with a medium hardness epoxy resin on the inside panel of the fender. That way i the section would have mild strength while maintaining flexibility. I noticed this is what Subaru did (BTW, my subaru is my dd) in my GC8. There is a ~4"X10" piece of hard material that is adhered to the inside of the quarter panel to give it strength. I can snap some pictures if you are interested.

please do. that is what i was worried also by trimming, the integrity of the fender. you got a pretty good idea on reinforcing the fender. thanks.

we have no issue, we still leave both layers overlapped, so they are strong as can be...

I do collision work for a living and i do believe 200 is alot for labor, considering all your probaly doing is taking a piece of 36 grit on a grinder then using sum type of undercoating to prevent rust. it probaly takes you no more then hour.

ok,

our hourly labor is 100.00..

my main tech did body work for almost 2 years..

we use a cutting disc, after taping the line on the fenders etc... then covering the outside as explained before... we then smooth everything with an angle grinder.. prep it with solution... cut the tab off of the inside of the rear bumper, then re-rivet it, to act as a clip... then we spray the underbody..

it takes just about 2 hours.. we arent the cheapest, but we've never had our clients say we are too expensive for the quality of our work...

do what you all feel is right, we made our recommendation

cheers

Sorry to bring this back from the dead.

Question for CBRD.... after trimming the fenders, do you guys keep the fender liner? I already have my fenders rolled but it's still rubbing. So I am considering removing the liner as well.

Also, Would you recommend doing that for the front too? If I rip out my liner in front, it will expose all kinds of stuff behind it such as the oil cooler, IC spray reservior.. etc.

Thanks!
