Tapping of the radio would be the easiest, why would you go under the hood before splicing one in dash wire?

Because it will be easier than identifying the right stereo wire and I'd rather not mess with the factory stereo (or other) wires. Ultimately there will be a cutoff point where if it becomes too much work (stereo wire tape or under hood fuse) I may opt out of doing it at all. I do plan to add an inline fuse to the power wire. Any recommendations for amperage of the fuse and if I should also fuse the wire to the ignition power??

whats the problem i just posted the diagram? you dont need to mess with anything but the constant 12v wire which is one of the two wires in the middle of the harness...

and it takes about 5 minuts to remove the radio

on second thought, you'd better go to an alarm shop and have them do it

I just saw the diagram....I must have moved to the 2nd page before it loaded.

I'm going to check the Dome Light and power lock fuses since both seem to have power even with the keys out. Between then I suspect one or both will work. From there I'll probably use the cruise control fuse for 12v ignition like I did for my radar detector.

If none of those work out I'll check out the radio constant 12v. I'm not afraid to use the stereo wires, in fact I used to install car stereos in college, I would just prefer not to have to mess with or tap into the factory wiring.
