Well i just finished blacking out my headlight housings. I innitially had tint film on the headlights. upon removal of the tint some of the adhesive stayed stuck on. So i figured oh well no big deal grabbed a bottle of goo gone and got to work. On one of the lenses everything came off and it looks awesome. on the other lens however I wasnt so lucky. The lens turned all white and almost foggy. I cant remove whatever it is thats ruining my lens!. There are some spots that dont have this and it almost feels like the bad areas are lower than the good surface. Is it possible that a layer of my lens came off with the removal of the tint? If so what should i do? Thanks again.

people get rid of foggyness or hazing by wet sanding the lense first, then polishing it back to new. Thats one way.

You may have damaged the surface beyond repair. Wetsanding may fix it but then you will have taken the protective coating off of the lense. So even if you fix it, it will need constant waxing to keep it from uv/yellowing.

I had no idea lenses could be ruined from peeling off tint. Should i go out and buy on of those headlight restoration kits?Originally Posted by dafarmer69

you can try wet sanding it with 1500-2000 wetsand paper and buff it out. i did mine before.
heres some quick camera phone pics of the damage...she looks so sad. I seem to have ruined her...

Plastic X FTW . It looks like you sill have some adhesive on the light.
Im not sure if that discolloration is from the adhesive or some headlight coating. When rubbing your hand across the lens onto a good portion it seems as though the bad areas are lower...ive been told i can sand down to plastic however my lens will still be ruined due to the lack of this "coating"
