I also live in Iowa, I don't have a front license plate, and we are supposed to, I have been pulled over 3 times in the last week, and Im not about to put it back on cause its ugly, its only 30 dollars and isn't a moving violation, just pretend your buying a tank of gas instead of payin the ticket.

When people say "Your plate looks funny" I say "I serves a purpose by directing air to my intercooler making it work more effiecent" they ALWAYS say "Thats really cool they thought to make it functional, its not so bad after all"

Also I like the way it looks cuz its kinda different

lol no.... what the front plate does do is give the police a nice flat upright target for radar - that is the main reason that states insist that you have plates, it has nothing to do with identification

I think for having somewhere to put the plate it is a great idea to have it where the factory puts it. My friends took theirs off on their other cars and they got ticket after ticket. They put it on after 2 tickets. (one of them had it in the window; improper display they called it). Actually they like how mine is on there and they wish it fit on their car in the same way. To me it does look pretty good, I wish i could take it off but i dont have $50.00 to burn up. What ever I would rather be safe.

And no it has no performance purpose... some of you dudes crack me up!
Radar target? Ok lets see, Your whole car is a lazer target. If the cop is going to catch you hes going to catch you no matter what. If your going to speed be smart about it not a CRAZY NUT driver who them selves are cop magnets.

Bottom line, If in your state they do not inforce that law then ok. But then again BMW's dont come with a place to put that plate. My dad has gotten away with it for years until a DMV check. Basically its all up to the cop. I've talked to a few cops and they said they dont care.

Oh yeah, they tehnically cannot really pull you over for not haveing a front plate. The have to have a moving violation first. **** the cop off after you were speeding and He will give you a ticket for that, and every think else he can make wrong with your car. But, for DMV checks everything goes in NJ. Most cops are not *******s, but there are some and i dont want him to **** my $50 away. I'm just not taking the chance (until i have money to burn)

Do they make/sell something that goes in the hole that might cover it up somehow? I took mine off, and it's just a hole, punched through the bumper. Looks real gay. Plate is back on till I can figure something out. Can anyone help?
Use the rubber grommet that is in there stock, paint it the color of your car. Or goto home depot and look for same size rubber. I belive it was 1/2 inch. Here is a pic:

Did you get a ticket? Was your car stock, other than the front plate?

I think I got jerked, cuz at the hole where the bracket bolts to the bumper, mine is just a hole there with no rubber grommet. It's just a gold 10mm bolt, directly into the bumper.

Maybe I'll try to get one of them grommets. I guess it doesn;t look that bad with it there.

Guess you could goto the dealership and ask them.....

Measure the hole, Im pretty sure its half inch. I would like to find a flush plug. Let us know if you find one. I talked to the dealership here, and they said after the first 5 Evo's sold they quit cutting holes in the front and were letting the customers put theres on if they wanted. Wish they would of did that to mine.
