Question Front license plate

For those who don't live in PA, what do you do about the front license plate? It's just so damn ugly next to the intercooler. I want to take it off but I'm not sure if that will get me a fat ticket. I've heard that driving without a front plate is only a secondary offense which is not classified as a moving violation. Is this true?

I live in Iowa and we have the same law. It bothered me on my other cars and I would never put the plate on, but on my evo I actually like the look of the side mounted license plate so it doesnt bother me.

Well I dont live in PA, but I took mine off like the first day I had the car, IMO its ugly on the car. The law says (here) that you need to have within 6'' of the original location. I used to have my front plate in my window (in my eclipse). Here we only get issued tabs for the rear plate anyway. I think I got pulled over once in the Eclipse for no front plate, just a warning though. Its been close to 6 months off of the Evo, and 0 problems, heck its hard to get a cop to look in my direction. which is GOOD! Old car was cop magnet. This one is under the radar for now.........Take it off!!!! L8er

look @ my profile. we HAVE to have 2 here in texas too. mine is perfectly legal.

when i got pulled over for my super white turn signals the cop asked me why it wasnt on the front bumper. my question was, 'is it illegal'? needless to say, its still there and the white turn signals went out the window.

i used suction cups to hold it up there to make it perfectly visible. cops cant hate the effort!!

It's an equipment (non-moving) violation here in NY. Every ticket is $75 + $35 though. =/

I still can't stand the side buck tooth that is that front plate though, so I choose to omit it.

We're supposed to have two here in Va, but I bought my evo in N.C. so the plate wasn't mounted. I don't want to put it on since I'll be moving anyway. My last car had no front plat either and I went two years w/o it got pulled over once and got a warning. hope my luck holds out.

I think here in Ca they can write you one if your car is parked on the street, at a parking lot up the street from my apt there were a couple of cars with no front plate and they had tickets on em. I FREAKIN hate front plated myself but i dont want a ticket either so I guess i am stuck. I agree with ChrisS i love that cops dont give the EVO a second glance makes me super cheesed. My IS 300 was a god damn nightmare with cops.

I see so many Vettes here in NYC that dont have front plates. It seems that you need to drive a vette to get away with it.

I live in Illinois and got tagged by the Elk Grove police on a saturday morning going to work. He pulled me over for it, told me that his lazer gun was not getting a good read at the front of my evo and gave me a ticket for not having a plate up there, 25$,, I did put the plate on but really don't like the way it looks.

same type of **** happens here, domestic cars can have super dark tint, no front plates and speed all over, if they DO get pulled over they get off with a warning

but let a freaking import driver sneeze and he's pulled over and ticketed

so ithink im going to put my front plate on (even though its just a fix-it ticket)

Why do you want to remove the front license plate? I think Evo has the best looking front license plate among most import cars.

I will leave it in place. Get your own favorite vanity plates. Have fun driving it.

In additional, you minimized the chance of cops pulling you over. You also save money from paying citations. Use the money and get some mods.

I don't have one and don't plan on putting one in the future. Haven't got pulled over yet, but if I do, I will tell the cop that no way on God's green Earth am I going to drill holes in the bumper of my $30K car!!
