Cutting OEM vent in a Seibon CF hood

I recently purchased a Seibon OEM CF hood. It has the OEM vent on the outside, but on the underside, it's covered up. I'm planning on trimming the CF so the vent is actually functional. I figure the vent is there for a reason on an OEM hood.

Anybody else had any experience with this?

If you cut CF, you should apply some resin to re-seal the edge.

Ok, I know what your referring to - it has screws holding it on. I didn't think it would as simple as just unscrewing it and removing it. It makes me wonder why Seibon put it on there in the first place. The vent is there for a reason.

it probably helps during shipment to seal the whole up so the cf can't crack.

The hood right over the valve cover gets fairly warm after driving. Sometimes there's a smell - like the carbon fiber is getting too warm... is that normal for a new CF hood?
