So i saw an evo the other day, it was an 06 Evo IX, wicked white with an evo VIII bumper on it. But not your typical VIII bumper, they had the upper part of the bumper i guess you can call it the "nose" where the mitsu emblem is shaved off.

It really threw me off at first because i saw it coming and i was like oh an evo VIII then really looked and it looked like both front ends mixed

haha so i talked to the guy and he was from MD, very nice looking car BTW

And yes it was an evo IX because we talked for a good 20 min and he told me how he likes the way it looks better then the IX front bumper.

well it did look really good, you can see the entire intercooler, and its more of a custom look.

So i searched and saw some with this mod and i havta say i really like it on the IX or VIII

So what do you guys think, should i do the Evo VIII front bumper and shave the "nose" part off so it looks like an VIII bumper and an IX bumper in one?? or leave my IX alone haha

It's the ideal set up to me. I like it to be open where the nose is, that's why I have an evo 9 front. I like the lower part of the 8 bumper more though. evo 8 front with open nose area= win.

You're right--it does look very good. Now that I look at it...it makes me kinda want to do the same.

 

I've been wanting to do this for a while, I really don't like the look of the IX bumper.

If anyone near South FL wants to trade a VIII bumper for a IX bumper with SE lip, PM me haha

i really want to do this so bad, i think it looks absolutly awsome, an VIII bumper mixed with a IX bumper, what more could you ask for??

i think this makes the overall look of a car.

Where do you buy one or how is it done, I have thought about doing this but now that I see it, I want to do it.

 

mine was just done. took my a year to locate a body shop willing to do it. they told me they have 10 hours in labor and 200 in materials to get it right.
i love the look, but if i had a evo9 bumper, i dont think i would have gone this route. fwiw the shop charged me a lot less than they said the should (done by a friend). he said for anyone else he wouldnt touch it for under $750

I like that combo, but I'd definitely have to put the emblem back in there. Looks naked, or like your grille fell out. I ended up getting a IX bumper when my car was hit and runned. Didn't even think it would be possible to cut the triangle out and fill in the hole. Interesting.
