goforwand Evolution MR Build Thread
Guys, the car should be back in our hands by Thursday or Friday and we will be prepping to show it at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. This event attracts in upwards of 200,000 people in Schenley Park here in Pittsburgh. I don't know how many of you local guys have been to this before, but it is a great event. We will have a tent set up selling t-shirts and hats, as well as discussing our retail sales.
So if any of you are planning to come, be sure to stop by and BS with us, and check out the most up to date status of the Evo!

Alright guys, I know it's been a long wait since something new has been on here... but wait no more!
We just got back from a great weekend at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. The turnout was great and, aside from a little bit of rain on Saturday, the weather was awesome.
We got a lot of positive feedback from the Evolution and I think a lot of people are going to be looking out for it when Pat gets it out on the track!
Check out some of the pics we got from the weekend!

In this pic you can see Jay wearing one of the new t-shirt designs!

One of the cars we've worked on. Abarth..

More coming as I edit them!

Update
Well, we've run into some issues with the build
. As you have seen from the previous pics, the car had a pretty good hit. The first frame shop pulled the car to get it into "spec" but in actuality, we were pretty far from it.
While Mike was re-assembling the car components, it really became evident that the car needed further examination. I can't thank Mike enough for really giving the car a critical run through, as he has saved the build. The car was brought to a shop with the best computer-based measurement equipment in the area; the results were as Mike expected. We had to order a complete assembly for the right rail to replace the existing structure. Here's a pic of the measurements:

So, we are in the process of cutting out the damaged structure and replacing it with a new OEM structure. In the end, we will have a 100% straight car that will be true
Unfortunately, it will add a big chunk to the cost of the build.
Jay and Evan at Domination are moving forward on the paint for the the body as they await the corrected shell. I feel bad for Domination, as they trusted the shop that did the original pull to get things straight, and they were led astray regarding what actually needed to be done. Domination is stepping up and refunding me the money that I spent on the frame shop (which essentially comes out of their pocket)
as they recognize that a race car has to be 100%....they get it. It's been a learning experience for everyone, and I appreciate them doing the right thing.
We hope to get the car done/fully painted from Domination by the end of August, and have Mike work on finishing up the motor/tuning in mid September so we can get the car out on track a few times for suspension tweaking and engine tuning before pulling it to bed.
Here's the paint color that Evan at Domination is working with

So, it's disappointing that the car won't get a change to run at Mid-O or the Glen this year, but in the end we'll still have what we started out to accomplish which was a ~2600-2700 lb safe race car that is 100% straight.
Thanks again to Mike at Bariel for really looking out to make sure that the car is 100% and the Domination for stepping up and recognizing the issue and doing the right thing. There are so many shops that would just make excuses or say "it's good enough" but they know what needs to be done and are doing it.
We'll post up some pics once everything is completed, and then some track pics after Mike works his magic and the car gets to stretch it's legs

+1 gagillion
Mike looks at things from the pespective of "what can go wrong" vs. "what is right". This outlook can sometimes rub people the wrong way as it challenges what is done, or what is proposed to be done, but at the end of the day, if you are his customer, you will get the best outcome possible.....
