Then you better take that damn wing off. Oh yeah, and after TF&TF2 comes out, you better take the lettering off too!
However, the wing (unlike the altezza lights) is functional, therefore I will like it and leave it.

will slapping on some new tail lights void the whole warranty? or certain parts of the warranty that just covers the tail lights?

I don't think they can legally invalidate your entire warrenty for new lights. Obviously, since they're in control, could try it, but I think you'd have legal recourse. They have to prove that whatever mod you did could have caused the problem you're trying to get fixed. So, if you install a MBC and blow your tranny, they don't have to cover it. But, new lights aren't going to affect your tranny. That's my understanding of how warrenties work (but hey, I"m not a lawyer either).

BTW, I agree that those lights look fugly... I don't want to look like every other IS300 and Civic out there.

I don't understand this new trend of putting factory altezzas on new cars. For a while, law enforcement made such a big stink about how they were illegal and should not be put on cars b/c other motorists can get confused by them. Besides, they are just ugly. IMO, the tail lights on the lancer are perfect; simple, clean and stylish. Why wouldnt they just do something similar? Further proof that TFATF mentality is being adopted more frequently by people everywhere. What's next, factory picnic-table-huge aluminum spoilers? God help us...

I don't get it. All of this *****ing about what is wrong with car. If you don't like it, step aside and let someone who does take you place. "I want to change this, I want to cut this off, Oh, that's got to go". Just be happy we are getting the damn car in the first place. What are you going to do? Buy a $25,000 car, dump another $20,000 into it just to keep up with the Evo. I have been waiting along time for this car (no I didn't see it first on gran turismo) and I am glad to see it finally here. So shut up and be glad we even get a chance to own one!

I believe your statement would better suited for the AYC/ACD "*****ing" folks.

As for myself, I will dispose the rear mile high spoiler and Rice tail lights as well!

First of all, I dont even want an EVO, so you can "have" "mine" . Second, I wasnt talking solely about the EVO, a number of car manufacturers have bought in on the altezza trend. Third, chances are if you buy a $25,000 car, it wont take $20,000 to "keep up" with the EVO. Maybe $6000 or $7000 to a $25,000 car will get you there.

And as for people "*****ing", you arent the only person in the world with an opinion. The thread began with someone wanting to change something, so other people gave thier opinions of what they would change. I know your opinion is more important that anyone elses , but disrespecting other peoples opinions is -hole b/s.

They were illegal at one time, when the first type of clear tail lights that came out they were not approved though DOT standards, reason being, it needed to have red to be certified (must of them used just red light bulbs but over time the paint on the bulb would come off) and thats how the altezzas became to be. Most insurance companys dont reconmend modifying any type of safety device on the outside of your car, such as turn signals and brake signals. So if you rear end somebody that has any type of modified tail lights DOT legal or not, it can still be pinned onto their fault since they did modify factory safety equimpment.

Im seriously doubting this, but im wondering if the mounting holes are the same on the trunklid for the E8 spoiler to the OZ Rally wing. Be nice to have an Interchangeable wing.

The Evo is available with the low oz spoiler. Although it may not be until the second allocation.

What's the difference between replacing tail lights and replacing brake pads then?

Many clear tails are DOT legal, and many aren't. You can bet any car that comes with them standard will have legal ones, obviously. I think the basic rules were:

1. Brake lights must be red and must be visible at a specific distance.
2. Turn signal lights must be amber or red and must be visible from a specific distance.
3. I think there need to be red reflex reflectors on the side corner and rear corner of the car.
4. White back-up lights.

A lot of aftermarket clear lamps didn't have the side reflex reflectors in them, making them DOT illegal.
