Made my own cold air box
Hey Guys, I apologize if any one is insulted. I never meant to imply that this might be beyond anyone's skill level. Its a lot of work, and some of it might have to be farmed out. I sure as heck don't have a hydraulic sheet metal brake!!!
Looks good! I've built a couple in my days, and they help a lot - you should add a duct feeding the box though. The gaps in the headlight area are not big enough.
If you have the tools to build one of these you shouldn't need a "how-to", it's a simple concept. Build a barrier to keep the hot engine bay air out, and a duct to feed it cold air.
Here's the one I built with a duct.

Sorry, its late and my brain is slowing down. If you can be more specific about what view you would like for an "engine shot", I'll get you one and post it tomorrow night.

Hey jid2, your posts about your own design were among the ones that convinced me to make my own. Thanks! I made a cold air collector as you recommended. Its been in since last summer.
I 'm willing to, if there's enough demand, but honestly, this might not be for every one. For example, the Cam-Lock receptacles are flush mounted in the top flanges, and require a 100 degree taper counter sink bit. I used .090 aluminum to provide strength and the necessary seat depth for the Cam-Locks. That, in turn, meant that I had to do the bending on a hydraulic sheet metal brake. ( .090 is very difficult to accurately bend on a hand brake-ask how I know
) Any how, you see what I mean. IMO, this is not a weekend project. Like I said though, I'm willing to help out if anyone really wants to do it.

Please do a write up so we can at least draw from your experience, if we are unable to replicate it.
