is this bad???

ok ok i was racing last night against an 03 cobra moded, a 02 z06 moded, and a 350z moded. The first race on the highway it was me the z06 and the cobra I have a Works ecu reflash and thats all. We all down-geared I was actually up till the end of 4th...lol then they pulled on me in when i went to 5th. Then I pulled up next to the 350z I was in 3rd we both got on it and when I went to put it into 4th the car just shot straight up to 9 grand for a second and i let off but after that the car was driving fine any suggestions on what happened or should I be worried and get my car checked out???

Learn how to let off the gas when you clutch in. Other than that dont worry about it if your not going to be messin your shift up every day.

As long as you had it in the right gear you should be OK. If you accidently shifted into 2nd instead of 4th you might have really overreved it. The Works reflash raises the rev limit but doesn't eliminate it, as I understand it. So theoretically you could just put your foot to the floor and the motor would never go beyond whatever the new Works rev limit is. If you put it in the wrong gear and let out the clutch there's nothing the rev limiter can do to prevent sky high revs and possibly a blown motor.

Dont get me wrong im a good driver I did a 13.2 @ 105 at new england dragway....The only thing im thinking of is if the car went into second without me realizing it thats what has me worried and the fact that my car didnt hit the revlimiter at 7800 and it hit 9000

don't know what could be the problem with your car, but there is no way you stayed ahead of a 03' Cobra and a Z06 on the highway with just a WORKS reflash. I owned a 03' Cobra and I don't see it happening. Ecspecially with a modded on at that.

you couldve accidently shifted into 2nd without noticing and avoided blowing your motor by takin it out real quick..you car should be fine but take note that its possbile some internals coulda gotten messed up but just not showing yet..

It would probably be catastrophic and immediate, in other words the motor would have blown up. So you're probably OK. You could make sure your oil pressure is normal. You could also pull the oil filter and cut it open to see if there are any metal particles. But I think you lucked out.

I'm not starting anything. Just going by experience with both cars you wouldn't stand a chance on the highway with either cars mentioned above with your one mod. I guess your buddies suck at driving.

As for your car....sounds to me you put it in 2nd gear. I did that to my ITR and bent some valves, but you would know by the time you slow down because the car wouldn't idle for **** and probalby die on you if they were bent bad enough. I'm gonna say your car is prolly okay.

Im gonna say your car is ok too. My best friend also did the same thing in his ITR, twice!!! ANd both times he bent his valves and had to have his car towed. I think you would have been alerted right away if something went wrong inside the motor. You would have heard an extremely loud pop, at least thats what I know from having friends with that experience. Just chalk it up to experience and watch those shifts more carefully.
