Indeed! I know your pain. The IOTV sucks. On my IOTV I had 11 30 round 5.56 mags, and 6 full M9 mags. I also carried a radio, surefire flashlight, IFAC, gerber and seat belt cutter. I think the seat belt cutter is to heavy though haha j/k. We also had to wear knee pads lol. Thats the CAV standard lol. It breaks me the hell as well. Not to mention I am a Combat Engineer, so we are always on the ground. Whether we are doing route clearance which sucks btw, we are setting up hescos for outposts, pounding pickets, or carrying demo god knows how far to blow stuff up. Humping a 40 pound cratering charge is no joke. That is awkward weight.

Nop, not really when my unit was re-activated it was 569th "combat EN" they all had M16 and deployed with them too... reason been MONEY! they started with a low budget like any other unit starting... that's when they establish MTOE blah blah blah blah

SOEuro, you at Eglin, Moody or Hurlburt (when not deployed)? Most of the time when I see people want to go SF it's from seeing us on those bases.

Yep, nothing like sitting in a 1113 or 1114 behind a .50

Speaking of engineers, our brigade here just had their Airborne tab retired. Poor guys.

Yeah Jason, I don't think there is much need for Airborne Engineers any more. Heck, pretty soon all that will be left is infantry and aviation. Everything else will be contracted out.

Oh, and this thread has become the Military chat....too cool. Hopefully it won't get closed because of out chit chat.

I dont see why it would... the thread is titled military owners car and pic thread. Even if it gets moved to OT, it wont matter. Hopefully the mods leave it though.

Bragg is surprisingly mostly legs now. COSCOM stopped jumping for the most part awhile ago. Pretty soon, as you said, It will be infantry, special operations and a few slice elements. Even the avaiation really doesnt need to be airborne aside from the nightstalker crew which still falls under special operations. We are just so far past the need to jump in behind enemy lines in mass numbers.

<---not a leg

Honestly though, I don't miss jumping at all. I did like the extra pay though. It was like a little car bonus every month.
