Goodbye Lancer Hello AEM..
Goodbye Lancer Hello AEM..
After seeing what a nice job Mike P. did on his gauge cluster I decided I wanted to give it a try. I wanted to get the gauge to sit flush behind the bezel like stock without cutting it or making it wider. This was a challenge. I ended up having to separate the AEM gauge and just install the LED half into the cluster then made a ribbon cable to connect to the other half which I mounted on the backside of the cluster.
Starting out..

I then used a dremel and cut the back side off the AEM gauge pod this way incase I screwed something up I would be able to still use the gauge pod.

I went to CVS and bought a plainer notbook that had the same texture and thickness to make a gauge insert.

I then traced the AEM gauge to the template I made and cut it out

Next was to cut out the spot for the gauge. Now not everyone will have access to a milling machine but you dont need to use one. I just have a awesome friend that happened to have one and he helped me use it. You can just use a dremel.
You will need to cut down the thickness of the gauge. Basically have to remove the upper circle portion down till its flush with the cluster.

Test fit the gauge

Re-install the bezel

Still not 100% done with it nor have I tested it yet in the car but pretty please with how it turned out. If anyone wants to attempt this I can hook you up with the template I made.
