What is the deal with Craigslist??

well i've done many transactions via craigslist, whether it was buying my honda or selling a 240 i once owned. As well as getting some deals on some other auto parts. In case no one checks the other cars section, im trying to sell my 96 honda del sol.

My thing is i had some kid bothering me about wanting the car, last minute he backs out, Ok whatever, then i get an older gentleman harass me over the phone for 15 mins about my timing belt not even asking anything else about the car. and then at about 11 o clock last night, i get a moron texting me about my dc5 recaros and he wants them....

Never once did i say on my post on CL that i want to part the car out, and never once did i ever mention that my car is a hunk of **** and please Lowball the hell out of me.

Just thought id share my rant... im sure many of you have dealt with craigslist idiots and morons as well..

Ever since CL became really popular, I've had declining experiences.

I had some camera gear listed and this kid texts me asking if I'd trade my professional level camera gear for an Xbox 360 + Nintendo DSi and 4 games. I was so tempted to respond with "I'm a grown man, what do I want with your Gameboy?" but I decided to ignore instead.

^I've had good experience overall but you have to sift through the crap. I only list my email so you can see right away if it is Spam or a scammer. I actually just picked up a used Rubicon transfer case for my Jeep for $700 which is a downright amazing deal. And I've been lucky with buyers too. But for sure there is lots of shadiness on there.

In my case, I was trying to clear out a bunch of stuff quick to catch a good deal on a Harley, so I had my phone number listed.

You're not alone. I'm trying to sell my turbo and some guy just emailed me, wanting my wing. Seriously? There is nothing in my ad about a wing...

i've had older men call and complain saying since the evo8 wheels are NOT mint and has a little curb rash i should sell for 200 with brand new tires... i mentioned in there already and posted for 350. lame.

had another stupid kid that threw the KBB value at me and said i was bull**** and need to keep dreaming if i wanted to sell for my asking price. lame, the engine swap itself costs 7000, and i had expensive parts, jdm conversion blah blah and i wanted 9k.

also had another crackhead call that was very interested and kept harassing me because i wont trade him my car for his ls1 block...

My co-worker bought a 04 Evo clean title, for $8600 bucks. I was about to buy it and he snaked it from up under me.

If you think selling cars or car parts is a little weird, try renting a bedroom...

holy crap... it was, shall we say, an interesting..... yeah... interesting in a WTF kind of way. Living near Santa Cruz, ca (which is already weird in itself) and renting a room out off craigslist brought out the more colorful variety of people (I use that term loosely).

I've had mixed dealings with Craigslist.

I had 5k macbook stolen from me via craigslist and I bought a 08 1KRR from a russian guy and after checking it out. Come to find out a few months later it had been laid down 3 times (He fixed it out of pocket so there was no insurance claim).
