Opinions Please! Matte Black or BBY? Tint or no tint?

I never thought I'd post in Show & Shine, but I really am looking for opinions (besides the ones that say "It's your car, do what you want"). I'm just looking for opinions on what people think looks good. I often change things too often just for the sake of changing. Sometimes I end up regretting changing. Anyhow, I platidipped my car matte black. It came out really good IMO. The BBY color underneath is in really good shape too. I love them both. I loved having the plastidip on for the winter, protecting the paint. So I'll probably plastidip in November.

Also, my tint looks terrible to me. I'm considering no tint or retinting it. We have to have 27% tint, which no one makes and I think the next one close to it is either 30% or 35% which is pretty light or I can do no tint on the front and whatever tint I want on the back and rear which could be 2%.

Here are the two pics of my car:

i like the way it is in the second pic way better. i dont think it looks wild/modded enough to pull off the flat black.

Voted. That matte black makes your car look old, dirty & crusty. That BBY is sharp and not real common.

Thanks! I'm lowering it an inch via robispec springs next week, but all of the mods are in the performance area. I may get some racing mirrors, but I think that's the max on the exterior.

Thanks! I'll have to agree. One thing I love about the BBY is how it shines in the sun with a nice waxing.

Haha So true! I'm actually a little worried that it is crispy and going to be a pain to take off. When I took off the hood and roof after a month it came off with no problem, but this has been on for 5 months.

i love matte black. im going to be doing both my evo and miata next month. But on your car, it looks crappy, idk if its the side skirt that messed up or maybe just the picture quality. Anyway, the BBY looks a lot better for you.

BBY is usually one of my least favorite colors, but between those two pictures Id pick the BBY, hands down. It looks really good, nice and clean.
Tints are a necessary now a days, imho. Privacy, sun damage, etc. My evo now has 35%, but its just a little to light for me, my last car had 5% all around and I loved it but its not as practical. Ill prob end up tinting it around 20% in a couple weeks.

The problem I have with the matte black is cleaning it. It's dirty in the pic, but even after I wash it, it looks bad. The best way I can get it looking clean is putting a light coat over the existing, which involves masking which takes way too much time. The picture actually makes it look cleaner than it really is.

I do love the BBY, but I think my next one will be Black or GG. I got a ticket in my Civic for 5% tint. Here in Colorado they are **** about tint, at least where I am. I agree, I need tint!

Definitely agreed. If the wheels and drop were more aggressive, then you could pull it off. I think matte black looks best with something to contrast brightly against it on the car; wether that be calipers, wheels, or something along those lines.

I voted bby with tint. If you have great paint, show it. Don't hide it.

I'm looking into some wheels, but can't find what I'm looking for, so I gave up temporarily. I agree with the calipers. I went flat black on the calipers and matte black on wheels. It's a little too much flat/matte.

I agree Except during the winters I hate all the rocks and crap they put on the roads. That's one of the reasons I did this in the first place, besides experimenting with different colors.

Thanks everyone! This was exactly what I was looking for. I've been looking forward to waxing it (not really) I'll post a pic on here in a week or two when I finish waxing and tinting.

It doesn't look like you have done much to your exterior at all. I like flat black but not on your car and not from a spray can. Blue being my favorite color I would stick with what you got. Give it a really nice detail, a carbon lip, nose chop, jdm rear, and possibly new wheels.

BBY with tint. Love BBY, and you can't go wrong with black and blue. Maybe some different wheels if you're looking to switch things up.

I do have a question though.

Obviously you know a thing or two about plasti dip. I dipped my rear emblems a while back and was kinda careless and got some "overspray" on the rear bumper. Its too spread out to get all by hand...I mean I could, but that's a pain...Would a clay bar take off these specks? Or should I just go ham and spray all the way across the bumper where the spots are then peel it off?
