Plasti Dip + Brake Dust
So I've finally decided to pull the trigger and plasti dip my winter wheels white. I've been reading a lot and found people seems to have issues with brake dust not coming off. I'm wondering if people have found ways to avoid/minimize this?
What about:
-A clear coat of some sort?
-A thick layer of wax on the finished rims?

^ Same issue. I plasti dipped my jetta rims white without clearcoat and I had a big issue with cleaning them (won't ever do white again). Same mistake, I just plasti dipped my wheels black on my Evo but I didn't clearcoat it. They get dirty incredibly fast and they're a huge pain in the *** to clean, but it still looks pretty great. According to what I've read clearcoating helps with the cleaning issue. Anyone care to confirm this?

I dipped my old Saabaru wheels white with the pearlizer over top. They came out great but I had to clean them atleast twice a week lol. I tried a few things but found that Meguirs all wheel cleaner in the purple bottle worked like magic.
I did my Honda Element wheels years ago and never retouched up a thing. Just washed them every now and then. The thing with clearcoating is that your dip will be a royal pain to remove. It won't be a sheet you peel off anymore. It will flake and become brittle. Yeah, it looks nice for a little while but do you want to sacrifice the benefits of being able to change your mind at will with this stuff? Spray it with glossifier and it will have a smoother texture and less nooks & crannies for dirt to adhere to.
Spraying a few layers of plasti dip gloss on top of matte white will help reduce the staining and also using Brake Dust Pro and a pressure works amazing to clean them back to sparkling white!

Dip Coat works great as preventative maintenance as well.

I spent last sunday plasti-dipping my winter wheels. It was pretty straight forward and simple to do. Just time consuming. I did 3 coats on the back and 4 coats on the front. It took about 4 & 1/2 cans to do. I then put 2 coats of the glossifier on as well as waxed everything down real good. Hopefully this will help with the brake dust collection. I will let you guys know how the glossifier/wax combo works out.
