Evo 9 interior refresh

I bought my evo 9 used and the interior was starting to show some wear and tear. I didn't want to rattle can the plastics or purchase new stuff. I recently found out about the 3m 1080 brushed metal vinyl pattern and decided to give it a shot.

it's not perfect, as i've never worked with vinyl before, but i think it turned out alright. i was learning on the fly. here are some before and after shots.

yes, it is textured and feels similar to brushed metal. you can see the grain flowing horizontal in the pictures. it matches the ix steering wheel pretty well. you cant stretch the vinyl too much or else it distorts the pattern.

Looks pretty good for the first time, remember heat is your friend when working with vinyl and it will make the end product look better.

Looks good. Did you look into any of the dip options? I've seen some pretty cool CF-like dips.

Damn you beat my to it!

My VIII had CF vinyl when I bought it and I wanted to do brushed aluminum cause I've never seen it before and it'll match my steering wheel. Well I guess it'll still unique since I'm using a lighter shade right? Haha looks good man

I also thought about a wood grain vinyl to add some class with the leather....

Agreed. I already scraped the wood idea. It's too tacky and I feel like its something you'd see on some goofy whored out stanced car.

Did you have to put the brushed pattern (the parallel horizontal lines) in yourself, or does it end up looking like that automatically?
