evo 8 CF wing question

Hey everyone,

I am wondering.....does anyone know, or have tried to take the the Evo 8 Carbon Fiber wing apart. I am just curious if this is doable. Please if you know anything about this let me know! Or if you take it off the car does it come apart in peices. Thanks!

Thanks!

You can always take it apart. It's putting it back together that may present a challenge.

The wing on the evo8 is not adjustable. Its in the booklet because it is the same one that was used for the evo7. Mitsubishi did not change it possibly they were going to make it adjustable but decided not to.

rear wing

I simply took mine off. Won't miss it unless I'm in a 90mph sweeper. the car looks SO MUCH BETTER TOO! Now I have a few black plastic plugs on the rear deck. I can put it back on for track days in about 15 min.

any pics of the car w/out the wing and of the trunk w/the plugs? I was thinking about doing the same thing.

Sorry I don't have any way to post pictures. Yet Just take my word for it! I hated that rear wing. I know it will be useful for the track (maybe worth 1 or 2 seconds per lap). Yet not worth the looks I kept getting with it on. I'm a bit older and it just didn't work for me. This is one of the primary reasons I didn't even LOOK at an STI. Couldn't stand the ostentatious hood scoop and rear wing. The little black plugs don't look that good. Have thought about simply replacing the rear deck lid. However I think I'll keep it so that I can put the wing back on quickly for various events.

I'm with you there. In the month since I removed the CF wing from my Rally Red Evo, the number of looks from the general public has diminished dramatically. Car enthusiasts still recognize it as an Evo and give me a thumbs up, but the rest of the population gives no more notice to it than a stock Lancer. That's exactly how I prefer it. Walk softly and carry a big stick, and all that stuff....
