my 1993 evo 1 repaint and tweak
but seriously it does take time getting used to. shifting with left hand kinda makes it like learning to drive all over again. the blinker is reversed so after driving a RHD car you are forever messed up trying to hit the blinkers in any car. 50% of the time you will be hitting the wipers. applies to driving both RHD and LHD cars. the other thing thats hard to deal with is the attention the cars get from people with less that a full deck upstairs. "hey man, your steering wheel is on the wrong side! " gets old real quick. Currently at a crossroad as far as the tune is concerned. I spent likely about 40 hours on the tune three years ago. the drivability was perfect and I didnt touch the tune for three years. now there have been some simple changes. the cams, and the alternator. and the a/f is completely off. shockingly so. I am thinking I dont want to spend a bunch of time retuning with DSM link. I think I am ready to jump to AEM infinity.
looking at logs I am rich and only hitting 16lbs boost. perfect for breaking in the motor. when the eth level gets low the mixture leans out some. so on monday with low eth level I came around a corner at low rpm in 2nd gear and hit it. felt some real yank for the first time. really took me by surprise how much power it has for such low boost.
so today this
became this
so today this
became this
I just pretend its a postal vehicle...

2G V3. nor sure the link will be up for sale. might be a few weeks before the AEM is ready .going to make it plug-n-play using a patch harness . I want to be able to keep ECU options open.
so I had another setback. hydro bearing starting leaking. ticked I had to pull trans I let car sit for a week. I had 1/4 thick aluminum brackets holding bearing together. but three bolts were not enough and it started to flex and leak. . so this time I used 10 screws to hold it together. I also traced the rattle to the floating calipers. so I added some small allen screws to the pins to eliminate slack. they are now quiet. I also added isolators to my custom roll stop bar. that was actually the most annoying mod that was done. far too much noise and vibration coming through. with the isolators its a huge improvement. car is close to dead quiet now. finally time to focus on dialing in the power band.

I have been struggling for last two moths with an inflammation in my right eye. So I havent had much time to put into the car. started to play with the virtual dyno software. we lost our local dynojet so its not convenient to get a dyno pull to see where the car is at. The software does not have the early evo for data selection. So I have to create settings on my own. last two times on a dyno jet the car made 426/405 (44.5lbs.) and 459/421 (47.5lbs) these two pulls were right around 51lbs peak so i think I am pretty close. close enough to do some tweaking with. so this will kinda of serve as my new baseline for now.
