Retro fit an '04 EVO Subwoofer on an '03

Does anyone try to install an '04 EVO's infiniti Sub on the '03? I wonder if this is going to work and does anyone know where to get the OE sub for cheap?

you can buy aftermarket ones that look just like that and is just as easy to install I'm sure. Check out a tweeter or a best buy near you, there is a lot of plug and play solutions. I'm sure you'd have to pay a lot if you were to buy it from the mitsu dealerships.

I agree with mojo powered, why buy an expensive OEM sub when you can go aftermarket and get something much nicer for the same money? Alpine and JL are some good companies to consider...

Maybe because some people don't give a sh*t about getting something "performance wise" and want good sound in their car. You know, there are people who buy evos and keep them stock right?

Apparently, this is the same sub that is offered in the Lancer. I just bought one of these and I am gonna figure out the installation ASAP.

Let me know how the subwoofer installation goes, I'll probably get one too.
Thanks.

Personally I'm going with an Infinity Basslink sub (~$230 delivered new off eBay). It's not too big, not too heavy, and since it's a totally self-contained unit (amp and sub), it's a cinch to remove if I start racing my Evo.

Yeah does anyone have a picture of it, or know how big it is? It might be cool to have if it isn't over the top bass and it just sounds a little nicer with the factory speakers, plus I wouldn't want it to weigh too much.

i doubt its any good. most stock stereos are poor. just get an aftermarket Amp and Sub, i have an MTX amp and a 12" Alpine Type R sub. it sounds great, just wish i had a Alpine Head Unit cause my stock HU only puts out 50watts so the speakers are underpowered compared to the Sub.

Talking

I have the clear Infinity Basslink sub and I love it. I put it on a scale and it only weighed 15 pounds. I'll try and post some pics this weekend.

I just got it today. I was checking out the 04 Evo and this sub appears to fit in the right side of the trunk. The specific location would prevent you from using a rear strut tower bar.

THe best person to talk about this is Evo Neil, who is almost done converting his system over fully to the new infinity system. Apparently there's some wiring harness that's really hard to source. He's got everything else, just need that harness. PM him for more info.
