Question Relocated Stock Stereo Uninstall

I have a few questions about removing the stock head unit on my EVO. It came from the dealer with the guage relocation pack on it so what I want to know is how to remove the stock head unit from the lower space. Also, I have searched and read about how you have to ground the radio to the chasis. DO you still have to do that if you buy the wire harness. And last but not least. IF I use an aftermarked deck, do I have to bypass the factory amp? Thanks

i would leave those guages where they are...i think they look hot as hell! i drive a lancer oz, not an evo, but in mine you do not need to ground the head unit if you have a wiring harness.

Sorry, I didnt mean that I was going to move the guages, I want to put in an aftermarket head unit, probably Kenwood or pioneer.

If you buy and aftermaket deck and use a wiring harness (and yes don't be cheap. buy a harness. its a ton easier), it should ground through the antenna (the harness won't have a ground wire anyways) but in my shop, I always put a ring terminal on the end of the ground that comes out of the aftermarket deck and then screw that to the side of the radio with one of the four spots where the brackets mount to the radio. And no you don't have to bypass a factory amp because 2003's don't have the Infinity sound system and no amp (the amp is in the headunit just like an aftermarket radio.
