Alpine CDA-9833 & 9835

Does anyone have experience with these 2 head units? I'm more concerned with the 9833 since that's the one I'm considering getting. I want to know how well the high power internal amp works. I'm familiar with the rest of the Alpine functions, just want to know if the amp justifies the extra money.

These are the two that I am trying to decide on. What's the big difference besides the 9835 having a nicer screen? What makes it worth the extra 100 bucks?

the only differnece between the 2 is the bio lite display. i have a 9835 and i love it to death. great sound and features and the screen is sweet. however, the 9833 is also sweet for a bit cheaper. can't really go wrong with either one.

does the amp deliver good bass response with upgraded speakers? I will not put a sub in my evo, but I want an improvement over the stock system.

it did make a great improvment for my sound. even without a sub and with the stock crappy speakers, the sound is way better. of course a better speaker and sub combo is way better but the HU by itself is a great improvment.

So both of these headunits have the same power output?

Also, would the units make good sound with speakers rated around 60 watts RMS even though the units are rated at 26 RMS? Is that enough or do I need an outboard amp to power good speakers?

it should be able to move the speakers but it won't be loud and won't use the speakers to their fullest. i recommand picking up an amp on ebay for that and just use your headunit to power the rears.

The whole reason I'm looking into this head unit is to avoid getting an external amplifier. This head unit is rated at 26w RMS vrs. most other head units being rated at ~18w RMS. This added power combined with decent speakers should deliver better performance than the factory head unit, and judging what I've heard from others, the extra money is worth it.

i have the 9833 and i wish i ponied up the extra $100 for the 9835. the reason is because my friend got the 9835 and his screen is soooooo much better than mine because it scrolls 2 lines of text for mp3 cd's and XM radio. you can see the band name and song name without having to hit a button to switch between them. im gonna upgrade to it soon thats just my .02 from playing with both of em
