squeeling stock brakes

squeeling stock brakes

i just bought a new 04 evo viii. my stock brakes at temperature squeel like no tomorrow on light pedal pressure. was wondering if anyone else had this problem with their stock pads. i have an appointment with the dealer on friday so any info would be great. thanks.

Mine do the same thing.... but not as severe as yours, just every once in a while.
People on this forum say that the stock rotors are crap, and they get groved or crystalized easy. I'm sure someone can better explain this, or just refer you to do a search.

same here! squeels like a pig at near stop under low pedal pressure.

there are old threads on this, suggests beading brake grease on sides where it makes cotact w/ calipers and holding springs...

mine squeels damn loud!!!

I've been getting screeching brakes lately too. I'm using Ferodo DS2500 pads and DBA/RMR Rotors.

I've pulled the pads out and re-lubricated the backs with anti-seize, and it's still doing it. One of my friend's mentioned to spray the rotors down with water and let them rust. That seemed to help tone down the squealing a little bit.
