To Drop or not to drop...

Just a poll to help me and others thinking about changing the stock springs with aftermarket springs or coilovers. In my situation this would be for my everyday driven EVO VIII. I don't want to lose the handling but do want a better/tighter looking EVO, where's the happy medium???

Espelir ASD's, expensive but a perfect amount of drop and everything consequently is great.

looking to keep the cost low on springs, something like Tein or Hotchkis, just want a smoother ride without sacrificing performance.

If you're going to get springs, get the Hotchkis. You'll be happy, trust me. Once i'm done buying my rims this weekend those springs are the next thing ASAP!

Drop it!

I have Tein S on my Evo... I love it.. Seems to hug the road better.. The ride isn't bad at all. I take Real Estate clients all the time and never had a complaint...

I lowered mine with the Tanabe Gf210 springs and I am very happy with the look. Mutch better now. The car still coners like a beast I will try coilovers in the future though.

Drop it if you want the looks, there's nothing better looking than a dropped Evo.

I heard the HKS coils had a really good ride. I was told they were better than stock by a non-sales related individual. He's been through quite a few suspension setup's as well. He finally narrowed it down to Tanabe for the track and HKS for the street.

Tanabe = stiff as hell
HKS = good ride, better than stock

This is all what I've been told. Check it out.

JMHO: Don't lower it with springs alone. Get the setup. If you can't afford it, wait.

Drop with Hotchkis..lower stance (just the right drop) and no loss in handling. The ride is tauter so yes, you will feel the difference on rough roads, but not much difference than stock.

Drop it, Dude! This car sits far too high as it is. I know Mitsu says the Evo performs best as the stock set-up, but you have to drop it. When you can stick your head in the gap to check your tires...you have a gap issue! I originally went with the Eibach Lowering Spring Kit, but they offered a poor ride and a lot of road noise. I since have gone with the Tein S. Tech lowering kit, which has been awesome. This kit lowers the car 2" in the front and 1" in the rear. The road noise is minimal. My car cuts through corners like it's her job, and you know you can never go wrong when you lower your center of gravity. Check out my pics if you want to see what a difference lowering the car makes! You can get a closer look at the OR52 thread under wheels.

I didn't want to go too low, like the S-Techs, and Im glad I didn't. The s Techs make the car look, well...too low. Espelir has really dont it with the ASD's. Was gonna get the GT's but if I wanna race, then Tein RA's.
