i think that's mostly because forge is based in the uk... and although they make cool stuff... they make it over there and the interest group for this product is here... not there, hence the back and forthing.

Alternatively, if prototypes are being done in UK, why not test it there locally until part fits correctly? They got EVOs there as well.... just curious more than anything else....

Where will the production parts be made for US market? US or UK?

Thanks.
That is a perfectly valid question and I'd be happy to explain.

Forge Motorsport is based in the UK, and ALL of our manufacturing is done there. Forge Motorsport US is solely a distribution facility, and we have very little equipment here, none of which is suitable for fabricating this type of part.

As far as testing is concerned, this product is applicable for all Evos (7/8/9), and while those cars are over in the UK, they are not as abundant as you might think. Forge UK has had little luck finding a local car to do test fitment on (they need to do the same for an intercooler project.), so we will be doing that since we have two Evo's ourselves here at the office everyday. We used to have a UK-spec Evo 6 in the UK as well as a Jap.-spec Evo 8, but they have since been sold.

As for shipping, we receive regular weekly shipments from the UK containing product for stock anyway, so including these in the shipment is no big deal. We DO NOT carry over any of our shipping costs to the pricing of the product to the customer. We "eat" that cost, if you will.

Another consideration is the rotten exchange rate pound/dollar

I am hoping these are not going to be too expensive.

What do you consider too expensive?

We have run 3 inch ducts that blow inside the rotor on our road racing EVO all season with excellent results, if there is enough demand we can fabricate tooling to mass produce them.

Last time I checked the exchange rate from California is 1 dollar to 1 dollar anywhere in the USA.

Too expensive is the original link posted
£323.40 = $555 as of 11/21/05

I am more interested in just the piece that attaches to the caliper as I already have the ducting in place.

How expensive would this be?
There has been a fair amount of interest -- would a group buy be possible?

I think anyone who tracks their evo regularly would be interested in these. I'm one of them.

That is the Laguna exhaust tip, as sound control is very tough there.

One area where the parts we run are superior is we do not sandwich the aluminum duct bracket between the brake caliper and the head of the caliper mounting bolt. There is plenty of heat and load on those bolts without putting a softer non temperature resistant material in there.

Is it safe to say 25 pairs could be swallowed up in Evoland, with a group buy price of $300/pair for the actual caliper duct 3 inch hose adaptor with mounting hardware?

I guess it really depends on quality and what they actually look like.
Do you have any pictures?

The quality is the same as every part we built on our race car. They are fabricated 100% from aluminum and bolt on easily.

I have no desire to give away my design by putting pictures on evom.

Can you at least show us some samples of your aluminum welding then? I'm a sucker for pretty aluminum welds.
