Steering vibration
I am getting some steering vibration that I didn't used to have at highway speeds. Thinking my tires were off balance I had them all re-balanced only to find the problem still there. Can an off alighment cause the steering to vibrate?
Things to check:
1. tire balance
2. steering rack bushings
3. wheel alignment (to a lesser extent)
4. possibly bent axle or suspension items (eg: lateral links, control arms) ....

Could be a rim that is out of round. Balancing it won't fix it becuse the rim is actually oblonged. Some of the better tire balancing machines can check to see if the rim is out of round.
Or maybe wheel bearings.

also look for the correct PSI, and run your hand over the front tread grooves to check for a bump which would mean radial runout (AKA up and down wheel motion)...this usaully happens at high speeds because the tires warm up and the belts seperate, causing jauncing...hope you can get it fixed...
Ti had this problem last winter, the funny thing is it happened right after i went oversome train tracks that werent in the very best condition. I heard the car bottom out and not long after that i got the vibration. I tried balancing them like a million times until one day i heard a clunk, clunk, clunk especially when i turned. I brought it to Satans a**hole to have them look at it and they couldnt figure it out so i left it there overnight. The next day the noise was gone so i brought it home. Three days later it came back with a vengeance so i brought it back again, a different tech looked at it and determined it was the strut. They replaced the strut, the noise is gone and my steering wheel doesnt vibrate anymore, even with the tires way off balance, strange huh?
oh yeah it usually happens around 70mph, and the way the tech checked the strut was to bounce it up and down with the top of the strut cover off and your finger on the nut, if you can hear or feel a clicking sensation, most likely your struts are bad
