i need some help with adjusting the ride height on my tein flex coilovers

so i decided to lower my car from the settings the flex coilovers came on today and i ran into some problems. right now i am completely lost. at the bottom of the spring there are two sleeves that have notches in them so i loosened both and moved them both down about an inch. when i did this the spring moved down an inch with the sleeves. however, now i can move the spring up and down with my hand because there is no tension on it. can someone tell me what i am doing wrong or what i am missing, thanks.
