This sounds like a good way to do it, I did a little research I came upon this nice white paper at stoptech that describes the break-in period further (toward the bottom): http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/...otors_myth.htmOriginally posted by 2GTSiAWD

I found this passage to be particularly interesting: "Other than proper break in, as mentioned above, never leave your foot on the brake pedal after you have used the brakes hard. This is not usually a problem on public roads simply because, under normal conditions, the brakes have time to cool before you bring the car to a stop (unless, like me, you live at the bottom of a long steep hill). In any kind of racing, including autocross and "driving days" it is crucial. Regardless of friction material, clamping the pads to a hot stationary disc will result in material transfer and discernible "brake roughness". What is worse, the pad will leave the telltale imprint or outline on the disc and your sin will be visible to all and sundry."

Ever since the days of not using asbestos there has been brake squeelings. On the EVO that sure is a bunch of metal on metal. Makes me wonder why not look at the squeeling as music to my ears, just as the low rumble of power from the large exhaust.

It says right on mitsu's literature about the Evo VIII that due to the high-performance nature of the braking system, they will tend to squeak more than customary. Don't worry about it, it's just fine.

really? this is a mighty old thread. if the brakes are squealing, the backs, and all metal to metal surfaces need to be greased. that'll clear up all noise issues. no need to bump a thread for that.Originally Posted by ryan78
