Carbotech bobcat-how to fix the noise
well, i read those other threads.
I don't care about what madmatt or others say. The problem is the noise, but you guys never mention how to fix this problem.
I want this gone.
I had project mu b-force, and they were loud. But these are very very very loud.
I have the shims in, practically brand new rotors.
I embedded from 30mph to 100mph.
so what's the word? how do you fix this?
here is the low down.
well, what i heard anyways.
thicker rotors on evo's combined with carbotech, makes harmonics and vibrations.
thinner rotors on evo's combined with carbotech, makes harmonics and vibrations.
what I've gathered. Well, it's always have to do with the brake pads vibrating against the rotors making that loud sound.
How do you go about stopping this vibration?
any suggestions?
I heard there are some silicone gels that goes on the back of the pads against the caliper that could fix this problem.
Obviously the g'azing is not working so far for me.
I will try to glaze the pads 10 more times at 40mph tomorrow.
Some of the people who's done heavy braking driving (auto-x, road race) haven't had this problem, which leaves me to believe that glazing may work and it's got to be under high braking and often braking circumstances that glazing actually works.
any other ideas are welcome.
I did noice that bobcats have those indented circular holes on the backing of the pads. What are they for?
All other brake pads I've seen have flat backing...
no flaming, no bs, lets' put our heads together and try to fix this problem.

well, so far here is my accessment on this problem.
If those holes on the back of the pads are where the pistons suppose to fit in, then it might be that WRX and STI brake pistons are smaller than the Evo ones.
So it might be a problem of fitment issue.
With the OEM shims, the design is triangular, rather than square. So it might not cover all the back side, which causes the vibration in the brake pads...

ok, just found out that it's not northamerican spec brake pads.
I'm going to take the shims out and put some of that quiet brake stuff on monday.
If not, I'm taking these out and putting in Hawk HP + pads in.
believe it or not, the rear ones I have of the HP + pads are dead quiet.
