top hats and camber plates

who makes the best ones? i need something for my ohlins. i was going to get the works rear top hats but i noticed that tein makes some for about 100 bux less... is there any real difference? i don't mind paying for quality, but i cant see how one would be better than another.

and are all camber plates equal? ground control seems to make the most advanced..with castor control and what not, but i havent heard of anyone running them.

Off topic but what spring rates did you get for the Ohlins? Why did you get rid of the JICs?

Tein and cusco make some good top hats. Quality is great on them

I have heard nothing but good things from works products though I have not been able to test them personally yet.

If you want caster control then I would recommend the ground controls. If not teins and cuscos will do what you need.

the spring rates are chronohunter/vishnu spec, i dont know if they are cool with me giving them out, sorry. im getting rid of the jics as they are not a serious track set up and are more suited for the street.

ben...does cusco make rear top hats? i just see the camber plates on your and everyone else's website. it looks like the only top hats made in the industry are tein and works.

Sorry cusco only makes a front you would need to go with a different company for the rears.

Rear Top Hats

AFAIK the Teins and the Works are the same so I bought the Teins (much cheaper) which look to be very nice.

I have the front Ground Control camber plates (top mounted) and find that though they have caster adjustment, I can still not get max. stock spec. caster when the adjusters are set in maximum position. If I did some grinding of some metal on the body I might get a bit more.

If you go to the GC setup and use Ohlins, be sure they provide the proper top perch (top hat) which is machined with a large taper on the bottem in order to fit down onto the Ohlins strut. Otherwise your top strut nut will not thread-in enough and will keep working loose.

I have the tein camber plates and rear pillowball mounts. Same thing as the Works. Have had them on for 6 months without any problems or noise

might want to ask Ohlins which fit...I thought I recalled compatibility issues with some mounts (could be mistaken)

Not at all, but to determine whats good and bad you need to know what to look out for.

The camber plates that came w/ my Zeals don't really allow too much negative camber. I'm at -2.5° right now and they're almost all maxed out. And this is w/ the strut-to-hub camber adjustment bolt on the aggressive setting.
