So according to you, pads that squeak are garbage...interesting.

My definition of garbage pads is totally different and I find that the Hawks are one of the best bang for $$$ pads out there. I did have the occasional squeak but that does not bother me.

Did you transfer the silver anti-squeal shim and pad backing from your old pads to the new ones? If not, then improper installation may be your problem. And like others said, you need to bed the pads in properly as well.

Yes, more likely than not, the culprit for the noise is improper installation. You really need to make sure that the contact points are lubed well. I have these pads and experienced the same noise the original poster described, but I didn't go posting on how they sucked.

Rather, I took apart the brake pads again and lubed the surfaces throroughly. Now no more noise unless I brake really hard at the end of the drapstrip. I enjoy the Hawks as they brake just as well, if not better than the stocks and they dust less (less, not no dust at all).

Try taking a look at the brakes again before you go compaining about how they suck.

Project MU NS will squeek if not installed "properly" I love mine though. Same is probably true with the Hawk HPS pads.

Also, I find it humerous that you consider pads "garbage" without any regard to how well they perform.
I found that pretty funny too. I plan on trying these pads out when I get new rotors.. only reason I posted

I will take all my brakes off tommorrow and relubed. I bought the stock shims for the rear (which squeek the most) and try to reduced this noise.

What lube do I need that goes on the back of the brake shims and on the pads to reduce noise?

these were designed in conjunction with hawk pads... so maybe give 'em a shot?

you have the racing brake ones? those are made of a dampening material... so they help damp out the vibrations that cause the squeel.

think violin string and a bow... if you have something softening the bow hairs... then it can't excite the violin string.

i had hawk HPS pads on my 03 8 with no problems at all, like its been said many times already you most likely installed them wrong by not using the oem hardware (shims, etc,) and anti seize. And you have to bed them correctly. try again, good luck.

Did you get the standard HPS or HPS plus?
I have the HPS plus and they very rarely squeak.

yeah mine squeak time to time but i have had them on the car for 40k miles! i personally couldnt be happier.. they have basically no fade and worked excellent @ my last auto-x. but they arent nearly as harsh on the rotors as stock and take forever to wear out where as the stockers went around 20k.....

I'm running the HPS pads on the car. The only time they start squealing is when they get hot. Other than that they are fine for daily driving.
