Funny .... but .... I wouldn't doubt if someone actually would do this.

I know a girl who sprayed wd40 on here brake rotors to stop the squeaks, if there stupid enough to do it, they deserve the ****ty breaking characteristics and ruined brake pads.

I just installed some hawks a couple weeks ago and the rears were squealing on hard stops a little. I didn't do the above because the rotors looks and felt Ok. Went and got them resurfaced and now they don't make a sound at all. I love them and for $160 shipped, you can't bet the bang for your buck!

Most of you probably know this, but Hawk makes three (3) versions of evo pads.

Thier best pad is the "street" version, those are the quiet pads, less expensive that Mitsu pads and create less dust. The next step up are performance pads, they ARE very noisy and quite agressive unless you are track racing you don't need them.

just a fyi

this may explain why some love them and others are complaining!

I would not use Hawk HPS again for the street. After the initial squeal (no big deal) went away after about 500 miles, they work fine for hard daily driving (most of the time). My concern is during extended rain or winter driving when the brakes are used minimally (like freeway). The first time they are hit when cool and wet or slushy they are NONexistant. The first time this happen to me in an emergency rush hour stop I almost bought the guys trunk in front of me. The stock pads never had this issue to this extent. IMO for street I will use stock pads next time and pony up the bucks.

this is dumb, why would you buy a performance aftermarket pad without doing research about its characteristics? Before you spend the money know what you're getting, don't blindly get it than bash it if it's not what you expected. I've used botht he Hawk HPS and HP+ and like them both for what they do.

I had the hawks, and I actually loved them. They lasted a really long time, and they rarely made any noise. Also they're in a really good price range. I'd actually recommend them....but then again thats just me!

I have the Hawk HPS and love them. When they were new I had a loud squek when they got hot for the first 1000 miles or so. After 15k miles of using them I think they are great.
