Tein H Tech Springs???
Ok... I searched and searched and read for hours so please don't tell me to do that...
I have a set of Tein H Tech springs and am now not sure if I want to install them...
Some folks seem to like them saying they handle better than stock and some say they are terrible and make the car float. and handle terrible..
I am not sure I understand how a progressive rate spring (with only a slight drop) that has a higher rate than the stock spring makes the car float or feel like crap...
I would like to hear from those that have these springs installed with the stock KYB struts on an 03/04/05 EVO VIII and like them.
The questions I would ask are:
1. Do they bounce?
2. Did they decrease body roll at all, flatter?
3. Did they increase handling over the stock springs?
I would be installing these with the Hotchkis rear swaybar on the middle setting as suggested.
Thanks in advance.

I just installed these on my '03 Evo last weekend. I haven't experienced any of the ill effects you mentioned. The ride/handling are almost identical to stock from what I've seen. I'm not a serious autocrosser or anything, so it's perfectly fine for me on the street. The look is amazing, as well - I love 'em.

1. Do they bounce?
-No, I thought the felt better than stock.
2. Did they decrease body roll at all, flatter?
-Again, it felt pretty much like stock. The only problem I had with them is if you went into a tight turn pretty hot the front end would push forward and scrape. AutoX the turns were a lot tighter so I would experience the scraping. On normally roads and mountain roads I had fun with them and hardly any body roll.
3. Did they increase handling over the stock springs?
-No increase, I still would say them same as stock. For the price and the looks they are a good spring for your car. Great for a daily driver and an occasional AutoX'r.

Thanks guys! Anyone else? I am getting ready to head off to the garage to do the springs and the rear swaybar. I will also report how these feel to me. I drive 100+ miles of mountain roads to work so I am sure I will notice any changes.
Take care!

I've had the H techs in my car for over 6 months and love them For me the H techs We're a better choice cause the roads in Boston SUCK! its like driving down the grand canyon every day. To me they took bumps alot better than the stockers and on the highway they didnt bounce enough for me to get fustrated, And im a VERY picky person. In and around town they were again more comfy than stock,
As far as conering there Alright. bout the same as stock. I would recommend these if you not going with coilovers. I think the drop could be a little more in the back.
Spring rate is a little more than stock.
Stock(USDM):..........180lbs(3.2k)....225lbs(4.0k) ......STOCK
Tein High Tech:**...196lbs(3.5k)....268lbs(4.8k)....1.4f / 0.3r
As you can tell right ^^^^^^^^ here.
Only Reason they are coming out is because i got a smoking deal on a set of coilovers and couldnt pass it up!

Ok, just finished installing the Tein H Tech springs, the Hochkis rear sway bar, a Cusco trunk bar and a Cusco Upper strut brace. I already had the RMR front under brace.
I have NOT had the car aligned yet so I am sure it will just get better when it’s all set. I am running all-season radial tires - Michelin Pilots 255/40s and stock rims (not everyone’s choice I am sure). I am not an auto-x, drag, or track racer of any kind...
I just like to drive mountain roads, paved and unpaved where I live... I never liked the way the front end of the car felt stock, always seemed loose or something...
My initial impressions:
1. Not too much bounce at all.
2. Car feels much tighter in the front end over the stock setup.
3. Less body roll much flatter cornering, not tail happy still showed some under steer but was fairly neutral. About what I would expect for the tires I am running… Let’s face it, the tires I have are nice for what they are, but the limiting factor. I need all-seasons for the gravel and dirt as those surfaces killed the Advans...
4. Much better road manners for unpaved and uneven paved roads, bump steer is gone.
5. The car is much smoother over bumps and road imperfections.
6. The car feels more toss-able than stock and feels more confident in the corners.
7. Seems to be better matched for the all-season radials for some reason.
8. The nose of the car does not dip under acceleration and braking like it did when stock.
9. I did not have any rubbing or suspension noise under hard cornering... Much better!!!
I will have it aligned and see how things go. I need to get some good alignment specs first. Overall these springs seem great for me. I will see over time how things are with more driving.
Thanks!

I was thinking to have it aligned to:
Front Toe: slight toe in (not sure if that is positive or negative toe)
Front Camber: as close to -2 as I can get it.
Rear Toe: 0
Rear Camber: -1
Thoughts?

I will post a picture, I think the drop in the rear is a tad more than advertised. I think the front drop is more too. The only think I don't like is the front drop seems too low and scrapes on steep drives...
some pic on my 2006 IX with Tein H spring:

besides the already discussed springs, is there any other springs or full coil sys. out there that would be good for daily driving and occational 1/4 and autox?? any ideas? I was thinking about Tein SS? is that
? or not worth the cost of the system? thanks!
