Problems with Hawk HPS pads!

Well my oem brake pads were dead so I had some Hawk hps pads installed the other day. I left the shop and drove all the way home without a problem. Later that night I went out with some friends and noticed that when I braked it made a awefully loud skreeching noise, I shrugged it off thinking it was normal. The more I drove it the louder the skreeching noise got, I know it's not normal because it's too dam loud. I know some noises are normal with high performance brakes but my brakes are so loud people can here it from 2 blocks away. Any ideas on this guys? It's driving me crazy, people on the streets are staring at me.......it's unhealty loud. Thanks for the input in advance guys!

brakes

Are you sure it's HPS not HP Plus? I have some friend that bought HPS but due some mix up HP Plus was in the HPS box and they said it made that loud sqreech.
I have some HPS, no sound....maybe when light braking, just slight sqreech.

If you searched you'd find a number of threads on this topic. In short, if the pads were bedded in properly, this noise will go away shortly.

Take the car back to the shop that installed the pads. They either forgot to transfer the shims from the factory pads, or didn't use enough anti-seize to prevent the pads from squealing.

I have had HPS pads on my Evo for 5K miles with very minor noise.

Good Luck!

Did you bed-in your brakes? If you didn't that is why it is screeching ... bed your brakes and noise should go away.

I just came back from the shop and they checked everything out. They told me it was the rotors......they said it needs to be resurfaced. And yes these are the hps pads. I might just have they dealer take a look as well.

Ummm if you didn't bed in your brakes properly, you are going to get excess of bedding material on certain portions of you rotor, ie rotors will look bad but they are not. Try to re-bed them.

don't listen to the shop about resurfacing the rotors. As long as you bed the pads you will be fine...no steering vibration, no squeal unless you run a street/track pad.

I know i had hp+ on my nissan, and they screeched all the time. From what i understand, that is the price you pay for high performance pads.

Do you know if the shop used copper anti-seize on the backsides of the pads? That as well as proper bedding can make a big difference.
