actually that range is absolutely correct. +35 is perfect for a 9 inch typical design wheel. many volks come in 8.5 +30 and fit perfectly on the evo running a 255 with no rubbing. keep the crack to yourself.

well before i posted it i looked on the back of an actual evo8 wheel to verify it. it's stamped 38. not sure if the new IX uses 35mm but unless i can't read numbers, then i am smoking crack.

Ok the place im biuying them through said they have them in 29 and 31. Help me under stand how this works? the hight the number the more its going to push out from the rotor right? Ans sence the stock wheels are 38 then 31 would be closer to stock then the 29.

the smaller the number, the more the wheel sticks out of the car, for a given width.

+30 on 8.5" will fill the wheel arches really nicely. If they have +29 or +31, I'd look at the 'face' of the wheels. To all intents and purposes, they are the same offset but sometimes they have different casting molds each with a range of possible offsets. If this is the case, the +29 will probably have a deeper looking face and the studs will be more likely to be long enough - cos it's prolly the max value for this mold.

If they look exactly the same, the 29 will be a safer bet, for the purposes of clearing the calipers - but only slightly better.

p.s. the stock offset IS +38 for the VIII.

No. Just the opposite.

Just an example...

17x8 with a 38mm offset will sit more INBOARD than a 17x8 with a 30mm offset by 8mm. Keep in mind both widths in the example are the same. If you are comparing different widths and offsets then you would have to do some calculations to figure out how one wheel fits vs the other.

Offsets are very confusing at first. Most people get the higher and lower numbers backwards in conjuction to how the wheel "sits" under the vehicle.
