17x8 or 17x9?

I am looking at the FN10R-C by 5Zigen, which would be a better choice the 17x8 or 17x9?

Do either of them need spacers?

What size lugs do I need?

get acorn style lugs. 17x9 is better, go with +35 offset, no spacers needed.

17x9 +35, you can run 255/40/17s without rubbing.

I am having a wheel job done and at the shop they said I need to buy spacers and longer wheel studs. The back wheels will clear with only spacers but the front won't clear the brake calipers without it. I am going to get the HR spacer kit from http://www.hrsprings.com/site/index.html

Don't know if I need 5mm or 10 mm though.

Nice!

To the OP, how do you intend to make use of the car? That will determine whether 8" or 9" is more appropriate.

I'm running the exact same setup for the track - no spacers needed for the 5Zigen FN01R-C's.

So I should just tell the wheel place to change the offset to 35? I just ordered new wheelstuds and spacers for the front, they wouldn't clear. Did you have this problem?

I'm a little confused. On 17x9 i've seen people run +15, +20, +25, +28, +30, +35. Which offset nets you the most concave "JDM" look whilst not having to run spacers/extended lugs? I just care about clearing the calipers and hopefully not having to roll fenders. Thanks!

I was told you need a 35 offset with the 5Zigens without spacers or anything. I just ordered wheelstuds and the spacers cost me about $200. Wheel shop said the only way the front caliper would clear the wheel was getting that. The rear wheels will clear with just a spacer, that is my experience with it.

35 offset requires no new studs, spacers.

The lugs you will need will depend on the spacer that you use, if you use a spacer.

I like going with the wider wheels only because you can get a squarer contact patch out of it for the tires. Obviously if you just go with a wider tire this defeats the purpose.

I know this is an old thread, but didn't want to start a new one (shows I searched lol)

Was wondering if I can clear the brembos with 17x7 +42 (I'm thinking 10mm spacers will make it +32 offset).

Anyone with experience on this? Again same rims 5Zigen FN01R-C

Thanks.
