2 Pc Rotors- RB vs PF comparison

Ok, here goes. I have looked at most of the brake rotor threads. The Racing Brake and Performance Friction 2 piece rotors seem to be very popular. For those who have these rotors, an update as to how you like them, pros/cons would be appreciated. In particular, I know they are great for the track but how are they on the street? which makes less rattle/squeal/noise? Has anyone had quality control issues? How did they compare to stock or others you have tried? Any and all feedback appreciated. If appropriate, include which pads you are using with them as well. Thanks in advance.

i have the RB 2pc fronts. Have probably put about 2-3K miles on them by now. Have been to the track once with them.

I have not heard any rattling or any other abnormal noise from these during track or street driving. I'm using project mu titan ki right now and once they wear off i'll switch to ferodo 2500 for the street and PMU level max for the track.

My only track experience on these was at a very tight technical track that is not a high speed but requires very frequent braking. the rotors performed really well and i was smoking the pads (which have 800C temp rating). I think the problem with our cars is not enough brake cooling. I have no idea what it would have been like if i was using a 1pc rotor. i would definitely recommend RB. great customer service and great parts.

Well I don't have either of those rotors but I have the DBA 5000 series front slotted rotors.

I took them on the West track of the new miller motorsports park UT. The track (from what I hear about other tracks) is very technical.

I was able to basically light my DS2500 pads and turn my Brembos Black and the rotors never looked back. They are the best part of my brake system

+1 for the cooling

Ben

The performance friction 2 piece rotor is an excellent piece. With its 2 piece design and dimpled surface the brakes are light and well cooled (without cracking issues found in drilled rotors) Hardware called McLaren Springs (so called because they were first used on the McLaren F1) allow the rotor and hub to expand at different rates (when heated and cooled), hence the term "floating rotors."

I've used both RB and PF 2 piece rotors (currently on the PF) and I can definitely feel the weight difference.

Do you mean the weight difference between the RB and PF (I think the PF is 1 or 2 lbs lighter) or between each of them as compared to stock (3-5 lbs heavier). Thanks

For Racing Brake, on their website, they list the weight as 19 lbs. Here's the link

http://www.racingbrake.com/product_p/2018-311-12.htm

Also, in this thread, they list the stock brakes as 22.5 lbs:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...riction+rotors

For the Performance Friction, Gruppe-S claims in this thread they save 6 lbs per corner:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...riction+rotors

On Buscher's website, they say the PF rotor is 17.7 lbs and stock is 21.35 lbs.

https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...roducts_id=139

As best as I can conclude:

Racing Brake 2 pc = 19 lbs
Performance Friction 2 pc = 17.7 lbs
Stock = 21.35-22.5 lbs

Anyone know any different?

I have the Racing Brake, and I love them. I have done about 6 track days, at various tracks around the Southeast, and I have yet to find them crack, warp, or any other sign of stress. AS for around town, I have have NO issues. I also drive my car too and from the track, and they are quiet when just limping around town.

I would HIGHLY recommend these rotors to anyone looking to upgrade to a improve their braking needs.

you neglected to calculate how much the pfs weigh on racing brake's scale then. notice that on buschur's the stock rotor weighs a different amount than on rbs. that means according to rb's scale a pf rotor is 18.7 at least... which is close enough to 19.

I just did the DBA 2 piece as well....so far, loving them (DS2500 pads), and as a result, we'll be carrying them soon. I'll post the weights later on today (I wrote it down, just have to find them)
