Smallest Evo Wheel Size?

After running Continental Extreme Contacts for about 25k on my Evo, all year round in Michigan, I'm considering going a different route as these wear to the end of their lifespan.

So, I'm thinking about getting a skinny tire on a small wheel, and running that through the snow, for ultimate snow grip. Has anyone had any success with this? Is it worth it? I know steelies are dirt cheap (though ugly as sin), and small tires are usually in the same boat.

Does anyone know just how small we can go and clear our brakes (or any other clearance issues)?

The brakes could be a problem. You can get DSM oem wheels for dirt cheap, you could give those a try.

My guess is you can't really go much smaller than 17X8. The steelies on the JDM RS are in conjunction with stock lancer brakes (the assumption is that buyers will replace them, so they are the bare minimum to make the car street legal)

Yeah. There's some absolutely crazy tight clearences there. That, and 16's look silly small on an Evo. Looks like an Aztek (okay, not quite, but you get the idea..)
