Question Offset and Spacers

Been searching for some wheels and am not happy with the results. Most of the wheels that fit with no problems cost too much money (Volk, Advan, SSR) and don't really appeal to me. My ideal wheel would be 5-spoke, gunmetal with a polished lip. I have two questions that need to be answered before I can select a wheel.

1. What will be the required offset for a 7.5 wide wheel?
2. What are the KNOWN problems with using spacers?

I appreciate the help I have received in the past and look forward to more in the future.

Thanks in advance!

it's not the offset, it's the design and backspacing of the spokes...

Claudius: What is wheel wentering? Also, can't longer studs be installed in place of existing to accomodate the spacers?

Really falling in love with the Volk GTC. The wheel is in stock with a +36mm offset. Is there a good vendor I can contact to make sure that this wheel will clear. The vendor that is offering the wheel claims that the back side is higher or something to that extent and will clear the calipers. He gave some term for it. Sorry cant remember it though.
The wheel is pictured below:

Thanks in advance!

Claudius,

These are 18 X 8. These are way more than I want to spend, but all in all the car was way more than I wanted to spend. No sense short changing the car. Volks are made for performance vehicles. I own one, so I guess all will be good.

Thanks for the insight!

Diesel,

Thanks, I just re-read your previous post where you referenced the term.

I think a lower offset should work too....
Aslong as you get the "High Type", which are wheels for large calipers like the EVO.
