Ok so - as of now the majority of you are saying the conti's and the asx's.

I heard the Continental ContiExtreme are ok. I'd recommend going to tire rack and reading the reviews. I'd pay special attention to what other evo and wrx/sti owners say.

I'd reccomend the hankook icebear W300's. I'm currently running the 225/45 on my stock BBS rims. The wheel/tire combo weighs 40 to 40.5 lbs. I haven't driven in the snow yet but the dry performance is better than my 245/45 falkens and the wet performance is unbelieveable compared to the falkens. Trust me they are great. Just be careful the first few hundred miles. I froogled them and found them for ~95 a piece and had Discount tire match their price.

BTW you may want to get these in the stock size. The 225/45 look a little funny {ie streched}.

Good Luck

it is, but skinnier tires are better for ice/snow traction.

I went with these tires... The Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS...

Their ratings and test results on Tire Rack are all very good, although I won't have them on my car until tomorrow.

We have similar weather in Seattle... alot of rain, and occasional snow.

Those are great tires, just a bit more than I want to dish out. I used to live in Olympia so I know the climate out there pretty well. You need a tire that can handle good in the wet more than anything.

Out here we get A LOT less rain, but probably mor snow and ice then you guys get.

But then again, I just moved from Phoenix where none of this came into play, just dry ratings. lol

I have heard nothing but good about the Nokian WR. It is considered an all season but really does well in the snow since it uses the siping that their snow tires use.

Check them out. I dont know about pricing but I am sure you can search around and find out.

I have had a lot of experience with the Falken 512's and they are marginal at best, same goes for the Kumho ASX. Yes they are inexpensive but they also dont perform well in really any condition. Their snow traction isnt very good and their dry pavement traction isnt that great either.

You have the bonus of AWD but you still need to stop.

Very pricey. I have those tires on my fiance's BMW 3 series. Came out to roughly $700 for the 205/55R16 size in the H speed rating.

Those things run for close to $1000 installed for the stock Evo size.

Not as bad as I thought. $850 with shipping in the stock size. I was expecting 225 a tire plus shipping.

EDIT: The same seller has them in an H rated also but if you are going to be running them year round I wouldnt recommend it.
